Five ways to be nice to your eyes

When you spend your day looking at computer screens, your eyes strain, you blink less, and your body gets generally unhappy. Optometrists have come to recognize a complex of eye and vision problems they call Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).

The good news is that you don’t have to just tolerate CVS. Click on the “read more” link to know what to do to make your eyes happier.

List of websites that use OpenID

I have my own open ID now! :D , I’m using this blog as my open ID (which was actually/originally registered via myopenid.com). I think that it’s very cool that I can now use this blog’s URL as my one true login name and password.

In case you don’t yet know that open id is, head over to www.openid.net, where everything is explained in detail - but very basically, if you have an open id, and if you come across a website or online application that requires you to sign up in order to use it, but it also support open ID, you just provide your open ID URL, and your registration is done. no need to fill up another form, you can also login using the same openid URL every time you use it.

Word Source - Dictionary 2.0

There’s a new dictionary on the web, and it’s cool, it’s not beta, but it’s social and I think I like it.

wordsource

Word source, is a new online dictionary with some features that aren’t normally associated with dictionaries.

First of all, it’s very easy to use, all you need to do is type www.word.sc/(word) into your browser to look up for definitions and thesaurus entries; Besides, the site itself has a zen-like appearance, has no ads and is more or less to the point.

Then, there is the 2.0 part of the dictionary - they call this wordsourcelive, you can “like” or “dislike” any word in the dictionary, you can tag a word, you can associate a picture to any word in the dictionary by uploading it and of course, in the process, you can become a part of the newest social network idea on the web.

Shoemoney unbanned from MyBlogLog

Technorati 100 Blogger, Shoemoney was banned yesterday from MyBlogLog, after he exposed a lot of vulnerabilities(including how to browse the web as other people) of the social networking destination popular with bloggers and recently acquired by Yahoo!.

Shoemoney Logo

There’s a new post titled “Everybody hurts…Sometimes.” on the MyBlogLog blog by Eric (Founder and automatic friend of every new member). He writes:

“After fixing the exploit, I should have unbanned (Shoemoney) and thanked him for finding it. But I didn’t. I screwed up. Shoemoney’s picture is now featured on our Members page, we unbanned his IP address, and we at MyBlogLog hope to return to the constructive dialog that we once had.”

What if operating systems were airlines?

Stumbled across a totally funny article via digg, on how operating systems would run airlines.

Here are some of my favorites:

UNIX Airways

Everyone brings one piece of the plane along when they come to the airport. They all go out on the runway and put the plane together piece by piece, arguing non-stop about what kind of plane they are supposed to be building.

and

Windows Air

The terminal is pretty and colourful, with friendly stewards, easy baggage check and boarding, and a smooth take-off. After about 10 minutes in the air, the plane explodes with no warning whatsoever.

Domain Registrar wants customers to become patients

LOL - Was trying to modify the nameservers for one of my domains when the domain registration service I uses displayed this message:

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE

Currently, the registrar is having server issues. Access to domain modification is intermittently down. They are working on resolving this issue. Please be patients.

Digg un-bans some domains

Every once in a while, I would come across a story on some blog that I thought was very “Diggable” and click the “Digg this” bookmarklet on my safari toolbar with the hope to add one more homepage story to my month old digg account, and digg would show a message that “This domain is currently banned from digg”. Not anymore, for some websites, atleast.

Digg has unbanned many domains recently.
Neil Patel has blogged (and is updating) a list of websites Digg recently re-started allowing submissions from.

Some of the most common mistakes Affiliates can avoid.

Been Planning to blog this post for the past couple of days, there is an interesting thread that Geno (of AM Navigator) started on the ABestWeb forum almost a week ago where affiliates have posted some common mistakes that shouldn’t have been making while affiliate marketing.

Great reading for both newbies and seasoned affiliates, some gems of advice have been posted that IMO should be embedded into every Affiliate Marketer’s thinking process. Some of the mistakes talked about on the thread are more affiliate marketing specific while others are more general, but equally valuable nonetheless.

Without further blabber, here are some of my favorite picks from the list:
